Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic

We are looking for a Locum Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist for our medium secure unit.

• The unit has 16 beds for long stay patients of 12 months+; there is a low turnover of patients.
• A full time locum Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist is required to cover up to 16 detained inpatients within a medium secure unit.
• We would consider a Consultant with Psychiatry experience who holds Section 12 & AC status and would like to develop their experience in Forensic Psychiatry providing they have experience of writing reports and attending tribunals.
• The job will be supported with a MDT including a psychologist, OT/Junior doctor and unit wide Social Worker.
• The consultant would be expected to participate in the normal day to day consultant activities of the unit including taking external forensic risk assessments when required and attending referral and admissions meetings.
• All activities such as liaison with external agencies (MAPPA probation etc), joint MDT risk assessments will be required for the inpatients.
• There is no on-call commitment out of hours, but the candidate would be expected to hold the duty consultant bleep during one working day.
• Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated on an individual basis. The hours are 40 hours over 5 days - all to be worked on site. AC + Section 12 Essential.
