Job Title: Locum Practitioner Psychologist
Location: Cumbria, UK
Duration: Minimum 4 months (Full-time)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced locum practitioner psychologist to join our clients SEN school in Cumbria. The successful candidate will provide psychological support and interventions for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), working closely with school staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations for students with SEND.
Develop and implement individualized support plans based on assessment findings.
Provide therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), play therapy, and other evidence-based approaches.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to support students' emotional and behavioral needs.
Offer training and support to school staff on managing challenging behaviors and promoting mental health.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and progress.
Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to case reviews.
Provide guidance and support to parents and carers regarding their child's psychological needs.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and ethical guidelines.
Requirements:
A relevant degree in Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology) and a recognized postgraduate qualification.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent.
Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
